We have had some major developments since my last update.Rasberry Crazy Ants are spreading at an alarming rate throughout the Houston gulf coast area. We are getting calls from all over the area. The US Department of Agriculture & the Texas Department of Agriculture formed a joint Crazy Ant task force which had its first meeting on October 9, 2008. It looks like our State and Federal Agencies may be coming around. We will be having some meetings in September to decide what actions will be appropriate. We will see if any real progress is made.While writing this I received a phone call from a trucker that has Rasberry Ants in his truck and he wants us to spray his truck because he does not want them crawling all over him while he is driving

As of August 15, 2008 we have found Rasberry Ants in Orange County. As we watch this ant march across our state, our federal and state government are still not addressing the issues. Maybe the state of Louisiana will be better at getting something done.

We have been notified by two different chemical plants that have had Rasberry Ants short out their facilities. One of the sites had to shut down the entire plant.

Crazy Rasberry Ants are still spreading at an alarming rate. Last week we found them in 2 locations near downtown Houston. They are now infesting about 1/3 of Pearland. I am sorry to say that TAMU will no longer be doing research without funding. Please contact your Representatives and ask why they are not funding research.
